The Rundown: The Royal Flush Gang is back in business as Punchline takes over the reins.
The tale opens with Ventura Fremont commenting on Alexis Kayne’s recent acquittal. Later, at The Bowery, Knavy_Seal is live streaming when he is assaulted by Clownz. Soon, Punchline arrives on the scene and chaos ensues. Then, Punchline meets Rex and Regina Quintain and makes them a surprising offer. Afterwards, Punchline meets with 1-0. The two have an interesting conversation with and update new Royal Flush Gang recruits on their future goals. Then, a prisoner is dealt with in a surprising manner. Finally, a flashback shows Batman’s surveillance techniques.
The Story: The introductory chapter of this new series continues after the events of the previous Punchline (2020) series. However, new readers can easily start fresh with no prior knowledge of the character or past incidents. The writers do an excellent job of setting up the storyline in a cohesive manner and I am really impressed with the level of planning and care taken in the formatting of the story. I am intrigued with Punchline. She is an interesting villain in both personality and stratagem and her way of structuring criminal activity is remarkable. I am excited to see this story unfold.
The Art: The artwork in this issue is crafted in a modern, realistic styling. Detailed drawings with emphasis on character and surroundings create an environment that visually captures the reader’s imagination. I found this good-looking issue to be both connective and transportive.
