The Rundown: Will Profane is a private detective who finds himself in the middle of a dangerous and personal mystery.
Will Profane is a private detective on a case he cannot remember. Things get progressively weird when he continually finds himself waking up in strange places not knowing how he got there. Using a strange ritual, he begins to get visions that will lead him on his case to people that might be able to help him.
After discovering a strange woman who tried to kill him earlier leaving the scene of a home he’s investigating, Will enters to discover a murder victim whose life and death will fundamentally change his life forever.
The Story: Milligan crafts an intense and brilliantly weird story in this first issue. I love the classic detective noir vibe of the story and how it weaves in supernatural elements that deepen the mystery of who this character is and what he’s searching for. The story has some great twists and turns throughout and everything comes together to a unique cliffhanger that immediately hooked me and makes me want to see what happens next.
The Art: Fernandez captures the noir elements beautifully with art that is immersive, intense and visually stunning. I love the look of this issue and how it captures the tone and mood of every scene.
