The Rundown: The Crane brothers discover a vital clue that will lead them to a dangerous discovery.
In the past, the circumstances of how Elijah left the Crane family are revealed. In the present, the Crane brothers break into Edison’s museum to look for a way to get out of the city and Elijah reveals that he deciphered the map that was left behind by their father. A map that will lead them to another country where they encounter a cloaked base and more mind controlled soldiers waiting for them.
After finding a way to slow down their pursuers, the Crane brothers discover a hidden star gate that will take them out of the area and is the way their father has been bringing artifacts back from Mars. A discovery that will lead them to the red planet and a strange reunion.
The Story: Millar continues to shock, surprise and entertain throughout this issue. I love all of the twists and turns that this story takes with the characters and the complex world being created around them. I love the banter between the brothers and how complicated their relationship continues to be as it evolves. Millar does a fantastic job of showing that there are so many subtle and not so subtle cracks in this family dynamic and I cannot wait to see what happens next after that surprising reveal at the end of the issue.
The Art: Landini delivers stunning art throughout the issue. The imagery is lively and immersive as you feel a part of the world and the story being told.
