The Rundown: Edison Crane finds his life in shambles as he deals with a personal loss.
Edison Crane, the world’s smartest man, finds his life falling apart when he returns from his latest adventure to find himself ousted from his own company. To make matters worse, his estranged father is found dead and Edison learns that there have been a series of failures of his inventions.
After learning about his father dying on Mars under mysterious circumstances, Edison returns home to discover that someone has taken over his devices and has systematically ruined his life while also framing him for murder. A murder that will force him to go on the run and turn to someone he didn’t expect to see again.
The Story: Millar crafts a dark, twisted and insanely interesting story for the world’s smartest man in this first issue. Stripped of everything, Millar creates a world where fans of the character and his world will eagerly consume every facet of this story as they wait to see what he will do and whether he can prevail. I am impressed with the scope of this story so far and the dark tone of the plot. I’m excited for this adventure and cannot wait to see what Mark Millar has in store for the character and the reader.
The Art: Landini creates some wonderful art in the first issue. I love the visual style and the dark visual tone to the artwork.
