The Rundown: Charles Xavier’s new dream for mutantkind will take bold actions, new ideas and innovations that will change everything.
Charles meets with Forge to discuss his new plans for Cerebro. Plans that will change the fundamental nature of the device and add a new and interesting function. His next stop will be to recruit Emma Frost and he and Magneto know not to appeal to her better angels to do so.
With everything in place, Xavier puts out the call for all mutants to come to their new home and makes a personal plea to Namor as well. In the future, negotiations with the Phalanx take an unexpected turn.
The Story: This series continues to be a fascinating read on multiple levels. I love the way this story moves and the interstitial history and research notes that Hickman includes in the narrative. They help to add new and interesting aspects to this hugely entertaining story. I really love the characterizations of Magneto and Xavier. There is a calculating practicality to Charles’ dream now and that gives his actions and ideas more weight. I am engaged in this story and each issue, including this one, is both fascinating and thought-provoking as a fan. Hickman has done an amazing job of making this world and these characters feel new and vibrant.
The Art: R.B. Silva is able to convey scale and beauty with the art in this issue. What the story lacks in action, it more than makes up for with beautifully drawn characters and amazing backgrounds and environments.
