The Rundown: The X-Men put their final plan into action and something the mutants do finally gets Nimrod’s attention.
At the Church of Ascendancy, a local priest shows the remaining humans what they need to embrace for the future. When the X-Men attack, their presence alerts Nimrod. His subordinate takes the Sentinels to confront the mutants with Nimrod distracted by other pursuits.
As the X-Men fight, Apocalypse and his team infiltrate a secondary location in order to retrieve the information they need for the next part of their plan. When Nimrod finally takes notice, he attacks with full force and fury. Apocalypse stays long enough for Wolverine to escape and begin the next part of their plan to stop Nimrod once and for all. A plan that will include Logan doing what he does best, killing.
The Story: Rarely am I truly surprised by the plot or moments in a comic, but the reveal at the end of this issue made me sit up straight and take it in multiple times. Jonathan Hickman is making this story such an intense and entertaining experience that everything that he throws into the mix works for both the plot and the characters. I absolutely love the twists and turns this story takes and this story is filled with so many amazing action moments and dialogue. I love this story and its surprises keep me coming back for more.
The Art: R.B. Silva delivers some beautiful and action packed art throughout this issue. Every scene builds in beauty and intensity to the amazing finale. Visually stunning issue.
