The Rundown: After fighting a myriad of zombies with the help of her friends, Poison Ivy unwittingly resurrects a dangerous enemy.
Solomon Grundy joins Ivy and Killer Croc in their battle against a large group of lamia spores infected zombies. Afterwards, Ivy goes to work on a cure for the mutation in her lab. Soon, she realizes her shortcomings and asks for help from a former enemy. Later, she falls ill, only to realize her new situation will ultimately cause a disaster. Finally, a terrifying villain resurfaces.
The Story: Ivy’s journey to redemption is once again hindered by her previous actions. It feels like for every positive step she takes forward, she is hurled back by several feet. It’s nice to see that she now understands that in order to correct her past mistakes, she must rely on the help of others. I found the exploration of pregnancy and regeneration interesting, however, the overall story is beginning to feel a bit tiresome. I hope the recent introduction of a popular hero is just what the narrative needs to wrap things up and move the tale forward. I’m curious to see how the current situation will resolve itself and what lessons Ivy will learn from it.
The Art: I really like the illustration in this chapter. The artwork is both detailed and realistic. The coloring suits the mood perfectly and the attention to character expression and form does a good job emotionally connecting the reader to the events taking place.
