The Rundown: Merlin continues to craft his new plan as things in the real world get more tense.
Galahad is impatient and wants to act, but his failure has caused Merlin to alter his plans. Plans that now involve his Nimue. As Merlin schemes, Duncan and Brigette make their way to Otherworld to escape from Lancelot who is starting to be understood by the pair and wants his Guinevere. Unfortunately, the truth of who he was really with sends him into a frenzy and Duncan and Brigette into the path of a sleeping dragon.
At the same time, Rose deals with the Shadow Secretary and his annoyance at the straining of the accords keeping all these events secret as his men have Nimue pinned down in Rose’s apartment. As she looks for a means of escape, she opens a doorway for the Shadow Secretary and his men to enter Otherworld and all hell breaks loose when Galahad seizes the opportunity.
The Story: Gillen ramps up the action and the stakes for the characters in this issue. The story continues to find a perfect balance between huge mystical action and family drama and I enjoy the wrought family dynamics throughout. There is great dialogue throughout and Brigette’s world weary attitude continues to be a source of both intrigue and admiration.
The Art: Dan Mora delivers some beautiful art throughout this issue. The characters look fantastic. The action is thrilling and filled with movement and the details in everything catch the eye and make you look over every panel to admire the work.
