The Rundown: The Green Knight wants to play a game and this one will require an unexpected player.
The Green Knight has invaded a local pub and wants to play a game. Unfortunately for the racist patrons, they aren’t aware of the rules and they end up splatted all over the room. When Duncan decides to take the knight up on his offer, he is stopped by Rose who not only knows the rules, but the stakes for playing.
After dispatching the knight and setting herself up for the game to be played again, Brigette finds the only survivor of the massacre and proceeds to interrogate him for the information she needs as he dies in her arms. With the information in hand, she and Duncan proceed to a familiar location to Brigette while Rose returns to scrye for more information. Unfortunately, she will discover that she is not alone.
The Story: Kieron Gillen raises the stakes for one of the characters and sets her down a dark path that I am interested in seeing pay off in the future. The rest of the story is well done and entertaining with moments between Duncan and his grandmother that highlight their contentious relationship. The immediacy of the plot makes the story move really well and I cannot wait to see what happens next after the awesome cliffhanger.
The Art: Dan Mora always delivers some beautifully detailed art and this issue is no exception. There are great moments throughout and the pace of the plot is perfectly reflected in the art itself.
