The Rundown: An omen will send Gran and Duncan on a new quest with more personal stakes.
Brigette is sent a vision. One that will prompt her call Duncan for the start of a new quest. After Rose does a reading, she and Duncan meet with Gran to discuss the situation and decide that their first step is to find Duncan’s mother before Merlin sends her out again. At the same time, both Duncan and Rose are being watched by unknown forces.
The three of them travel to a secluded bar in the middle of nowhere that might hold clues to where Elaine is and find themselves in the midst of men who want to know the same information and won’t hesitate to force it out of the trio. To make matters worse, a new entity arrives who wishes to play a deadly game.
The Story: A new story arc continues the action and intrigue that make this title so appealing. Kieron Gillen gives great humanity and humor to these characters while also making them endearing to the reader. I really enjoyed where this story took me and loved all the twists, turns and surprises throughout. I continue to enjoy the human story as well as the relationships between the characters and the cliffhanger hooked me.
The Art: Dan Mora delivers some beautiful art in this issue. The style and visual flair at play on the pages is some of the best in comics today. There are so many great images throughout the issue that the art keeps me as riveted as the story.
