The Rundown: A new threat will rise as Duncan and Gran fight to end the resurrected Arthur.
Arthur has received a message that a rival is preparing to ascend and he needs his bravest knight to enter the world and retrieve what he needs to stop this ascension. Galahad volunteers and is put through a test that will change him forever. At the same time, Duncan is training with Gran when he receives a call from Rose telling him where he needs to go next on his quest.
After returning to the city, Duncan discovers that his half-brother has gone through a shocking transformation and more importantly, both of them have been used as pawns in someone’s scheme to resurrect another ancient legend.
The Story: Gillen is upping the stakes for the characters in this story and I am excited for it. The story continues to move at a pace where revelations and discoveries are made while Duncan is given the time to train and evolve as a character with the help of his grandmother and Rose. I like the fact that Duncan is taking a bigger role in events beyond being thrust into them and the world these characters inhabit is fascinating and engaging. Gillen does amazing work with the dialogue as well and the story moves seamlessly to an entertaining cliffhanger ending.
The Art: Dan Mora’s art is sublime. Everything from the richly detailed backgrounds to the wonderfully expressive characters is great to look at and the way the art progresses the story is perfect. The action is great and Mora mixes in horror elements beautifully throughout.
