The Rundown: Val goes after Blacktop Bill who learns a secret that might just save the world.
At one of the outposts, a man is on the run from shades trying to kill him. After begging to be let in, the residents rescue him. Unfortunately, they let in the wrong man as Blacktop Bill proceeds to slaughter everyone in sight. Meanwhile, Bea and the others go looking for answers about where they can locate Bill and learn that he isn’t the only one like him out in the world killing anyone they come across.
As the group deals with their new arrival and their plans for Bill, Emory reveals that he still hears whispers from the shades even after being cured. He also believes that they are planning something big for the people they’ve been kidnapping. After investigating some recently dead outposts, Val believes she knows where Bill is. At the same time, his handy work has gotten the attention of his former boss who has dispatched a new team to bring him down. When Val catches up to him first, he reveals something that might make him a dangerous ally to their cause.
The Story: Snyder ramps up both the tension and the action in this issue. The opening moments of the issue tell the reader that everything is up for grabs and that anything can happen. Bill continues to become a more interesting character and his actions in this issue are intriguing. His decisions after the fact are just as interesting and I love how the characters come together and what it could mean going forward.
The Art: Tony S Daniel delivers some beautifully detailed and stunning art on every page of this story. There are some great action beats and some visually terrifying moments throughout.
