The Rundown: While Nightwing ponders what to do with his newfound fortune, he is confronted by a heartbreaking reality.
Dick Grayson waxes philosophical when it comes to the mentors in his life. When he and Barbara Gordon go out for pizza, they are interrupted by a man and his son asking for spare change. Dick responds by making a kind gesture toward not only the family, but the community as well. Later, his wallet is stolen. While tracking the thieves, he has a confrontation with a mob boss’s henchmen. When he finally catches the pickpockets, he discovers something surprising. Dick later makes a decision that will change his life. Meanwhile, a new villain emerges and engages in a stunning activity.
The Story: I like this story. Tom Taylor does a good job of blending humor, action, and introspection. He also sets up an exciting new storyline. I am looking forward to learning more about the mystery villain, and their ultimate designs. But, I also hope the series delves into the heart of Bludhaven. I am curious to learn about the “forgotten people,” and Dick’s intentions toward them.
The Art: Colorful palettes highlight detailed artwork in this issue. The drawings feel like a modern homage to comic book stylings. It looks great and really enhances the feel of the story.
