Steven Spielberg is brining in some new blood to take on what is shaping up to be the final adventure of Indiana Jones.

Spielberg’s longtime collaborator David Koepp (Jurassic Park, The Lost World, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) was crafting the fifth adventure of Harrison Ford’s fedora sporting archaeologist. Now comes news that the production is bringing in a new writer for the film.

THE FIRST TIME

According to reports in Collider and others, Solo: A Star Wars Story writer Jonathan Kasdan has been brought in to take over scripting duties on the film. Kasdan will be following in the footsteps of his father, director and writer Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote the screenplay for Indy’s first adventure Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Indiana-Jones-Crystal-Skull

According to Spielberg; “This will be Harrison Ford’s last Indiana Jones movie, I am pretty sure, but it will certainly continue after that,” he said. This continues to fuel the rumors that the fabled Fountain of Youth will be the major plot point in the film with the ending consisting of Indy growing younger and continuing his adventures with a new actor. It would make sense for the writer who took another iconic Ford role and wrote it for a younger actor would be brought in to script this latest adventure.

The film was originally supposed to be released July 20, 2020, but it looks like the change in script will prompt the release date to be changed.
