Deron GenerallyRecently, the streaming service Netflix purchased Millarworld, an entertainment company run by comic book legend Mark Millar and his wife Lucy Millar. One of the new projects from that collaboration is coming soon.
Millarworld is home to some of the best comic book properties in the industry including Wanted, Kick-Ass, Reborn, Huck, Jupiter’s Legacy and Kingsman. Netflix teaming up with Millar has opened the possibility of some interesting and awesome collaborations across different types of media.
Today, Netflix released the first trailer for their first comic book with Millarworld, The Magic Order. The Magic Order, written by Mark Millar with art from Marvel superstar artist Olivier Coipel (Thor, The Avengers, The Amazing Spider-Man). This series will be six issues long and will be available for sale in comic stores beginning June 13. Netflix also released the official synopsis for the series;
We live in a world where we’ve never seen a monster and these people are the reason we sleep safely in our beds. Magic meets the mob in The Magic Order, as five families of magicians sworn to protect our world for generations must battle an enemy who’s picking them off one by one. By day they live among us as our neighbors, friends and co-workers, but by night they are the sorcerers, magicians and wizards that protect us from the forces of darkness…unless the darkness gets them first.
