While Henry Cavill and the rest of the cast are hard at work on the upcoming second season of the hit Netflix series The Witcher, fans of the series will have a new animated film to tide them over until the live action adventures of Geralt of Rivia return.
According to Deadline, based on the success of the live action series, Netflix has greenlit a new animated feature set in the world of The Witcher. The logline for the upcoming film, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf states;
The world of The Witcher expands in this anime film that explores a powerful new threat facing The Continent.
The series is from animation studio Studio Mir, whose credits include Voltron: Legendary Defender and The Witcher series producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau DeMayo.
No other details are available regarding the plot or whether the stars of the series will provide their voices for the animated feature, but the prevailing rumor is that the film will bridge the gap between the end of the first season and the upcoming second season.
