Warner Brothers Television is teaming with Netflix to bring Neil Gaiman’s iconic Vertigo Comics series to life.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wonder Woman scribe Allan Heinberg will write the series based on the Neil Gaiman characters and serve as showrunner. According to the story, Sandman has gotten a straight-to-series order which means that the show doesn’t have to deal with the uncertainty of waiting for a pilot episode to sell the series. Gaiman will serve as executive producer alongside writer/producer David S Goyer.
Goyer and Gaiman were attached to the project when New Line Cinema was looking to turn it into a feature film.
The story also goes on to state that bringing the series to life will not be cheap with the series expected to be one of the most expensive shows that DC Entertainment has ever done. Sandman will be the third Gaiman property to hit the small screen with American Gods on Starz and Good Omens on Amazon Prime Video.
There’s been no comment from either Netflix or Warner Brothers as the deal has not been signed yet, but we will continue to follow this story as it develops.
