Naomi #5
DC Comics
Written by Brian Michael Bendis and David F Walker
Art by Jamal Campbell
Letters by Wes Abbott
With all the secrets revealed, Naomi goes to tell the one person she knows she can trust.
With everyone revealing things to her, including her adopted parents, Naomi turns to her best friend Annabelle to finally tell someone who she really is. First she needs to know if Annabelle has any secrets of her own, like being an alien from another dimension.
With her friend being secret origin free, Naomi tells her the truth about Dee, her father and finally where she came from. The device she was found with contains the story of her parents, with the voice of her biological mother telling the young woman the tragic history of the alternate Earth they come from, the powers they received and the rise of evil that conquered and threatened everyone.
As the conflict escalated on the planet, the strongest and most evil among them ruled. The uneasy peace was shattered when he discovered the birth of Naomi and her parents were forced to send her away to save her life. Unfortunately, opening the door to Naomi’s past also opened a doorway that threatens her present.
Brian Michael Bendis and David F. Walker continue to make Naomi an amazingly fun and fresh read. The characters are bursting with life through the fun plot and fresh, often funny dialogue. Naomi’s search for the truth has engaged the reader because she is a dynamic, strong and interesting character. The writers have built an incredible world for this character and populated with great characters and plot. It’s going to be interesting to see how they bring it home in the conclusion and where the characters go next.
Jamal Campbell’s art is breathtaking. It’s beautifully detailed in its style and the character designs and colors jump off the page at several points throughout.
