The Rundown: Sherriff Crane has returned and the truth is revealed.
Crane has returned to rescue her daughter and the others caught in the melee. She reveals to everyone where she’s been and the story includes not only violence, but a copy of her husband hell bent on killing her for the points. After the reveal, she has something else to show them as they load into her armored vehicle to hunt down the copycat Nailbiter.
After finding out where he’s hiding, she and Alice confront the killer and everyone learns about the twisted game they all seem to be players in. A game that will force the original Nailbiter and his family to return to where it all began.
The Story: This is a fun issue that does a great job of moving the story forward while filling in the blanks of one of its bigger mysteries. Joshua Williamson does a great job of telling Crane’s story organically so that it feels natural and not an exposition dump to explain where she’s been. The story pivots back into the plot well and keeps its momentum and energy as it moves forward.
The Art: Mike Henderson delivers some awesome art in this issue as well. There are some great, visceral moments throughout the story and Henderson captures them brilliantly.
