Marvel Studios and Disney Plus are preparing to bring the adventures of teenage superhero Kalama Khan aka Ms. Marvel to the screen with the announcement of directors for the new series.
Bisha K. Ali (Four Weddings and A Funeral series) is the head writer of the series that will deal with the adventures of Pakistani super hero Kamala Khan who must deal with being both a teenager and a hero while living in New Jersey. The series will not be the only appearance of Khan according to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Not only will Ms Marvel appear in her own series, but she will also be included in future Marvel films as well.
Bringing Kamala’s adventures to life will be directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah recently revived the popular action franchise Bad Boys by directing the action comedy Bad Boys For Life. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is a two time Oscar winner for directing documentary films like Saving Face and A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness. Meera Menon has directed episodes of The Walking Dead, The Outsider, Titans, and The Punisher.
While there is currently no news on casting for the lead, Marvel getting its lead writer and episode directors in place means a casting announcement should be coming soon.
