Deron GenerallyMedia Rights Capital (MRC), who partnered on The Dark Tower adaptation is back in the Stephen King business with a new adaptation.
According to Deadline, MRC has optioned the Stephen King bestseller The Outsider and plans on making the novel into a 10 episode limited series to be written by Richard Price. Jack Bender and Marty Bowen will executive produce the series. Both have experience with King through the series Mr. Mercedes with Bender to possibly direct the pilot episode. King has the option to join as executive producer.
The Outsider centers on Terry Maitland. A little league coach, English teacher, husband and father of two girls, Terry is one of the more popular citizens in his town of Flint City, Oklahoma. Terry is publicly arrested for the brutal and grotesque murder of an 11 year old. Even though Terry has a alibi – being seen at a conference by witnesses, his DNA and fingerprints are found at the murder scene and everyone has to determine did he or didn’t he.
Richard Price is known for penning the scripts for movies like Sea of Love, Clockers and The Night Of.
