The Rundown: Theresa decides to leave, but something is keeping her in town.
Theresa thinks back on her loving relationship with her grandfather and how complicated her relationship is with her mother as she continues to think about what she should do next. After returning home and confronting her mother, she decides to leave, but first she is going to see Missy.
Missy decides to give her a chance and have her go out with her and her son. When Theresa decides to learn more about the town and discovers a connection to it in Missy’s son, she decides that she is going to stay and see what happens next.
The Story: Lemire crafts an engaging story in this issue filled with great character moments for Theresa as well as great drama between her and her mother. I like the slow burn of this issue and how it sets up conflict with the characters as well as increasing the tension with Theresa and her mother. The mystery of the town also intrigues me and makes me want to keep reading to see what’s going on with that hotel.
The Art: Lemire delivers beautiful art throughout the issue. The visuals are emotional and perfectly capture the tone and mood of the story.
