The Rundown: Budd believes he is seeing signs as he goes through his daily life.
Budd continues to see bad omens in his everyday life. Omens that he cannot understand as he lives his day-to-day life and laments the repetitive nature of his existence. His existential crisis aside, he does still love his wife and child and the life he is building for himself, but he feels like there is more.
As he deals with the uneasy feeling that he is missing something, he sees more signs. Signs that will bring him to a destructive personal choice as well as a moment that will change his life and the direction of it for years to come.
The Story: Lemire delivers a great backstory for the world of this story. I enjoyed Budd’s story and his personal conflict a lot. The desperation of his existence leads to some great drama and Lemire does a fantastic job of building the tension throughout the story until it comes to a satisfying and intriguing cliffhanger.
The Art: Lemire delivers some fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the ethereal look of the world of this story and the art perfectly captures the tone and mood of the story.
