After securing Andy Serkis to direct the upcoming sequel to Venom, there is news of another star returning for the next adventure.
According to an interview with Yahoo, actress Michelle Williams (Fosse/Vernon) will return as Anne Weying in the upcoming sequel to the 2018 action film starring Tom Hardy. Serkis will direct the Marvel Comics sequel with Hardy helping to co-write the script. Weying was the love interest in the first film and spent some time as a symbiote herself in order to help Eddie Brock.
According to Williams; “I’m such a fan of Andy’s (Serkis), and I’m so inspired by what he’s been able to accomplish. He’s so gifted in such a specific way, and I’m very excited to learn from him and be around him.”
Nothing is known about the plot for the sequel, but the villain Cletus Cassidy aka Carnage was introduced in the first film with a cameo by Woody Harrelson, so there is speculation that the character would be the main villain in the sequel.
