After the news yesterday that actor Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to play the villain Mysterio in the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Variety has news about another returning cast member from the first film.
At the end of the first film, Spider-Man manages to capture the villain Vulture aka Adrian Toomes, played by Michael Keaton. In the post credit scene, Toomes is asked about the wall crawlers identity by Mac Gargan aka The Scorpion and Vulture tells him that he doesn’t know. This could either mean that Vulture is grateful to Peter for saving his life and decides to keep his secret or he has plans to deal with Spider-Man personally when he finds a way to escape.
How much screen time and in what capacity Keaton will be on the screen in the sequel is unknown, but it will be interesting to see how the conflict between Peter and Toomes continues to play out on the big screen, especially if there is an all-new threat that Spider-Man has to deal with at the same time. The Spider-Man Homecoming sequel will find Peter traveling around the world for a new mission and this opens a world of possibilities that I am looking forward to seeing explored.
