The Rundown: Lady Hellaine’s desperation to secure the mine will move up the timetable of her plans, but the hunter is also being hunted.
Lady Hellaine is in the crosshairs of a creature who wants her dead and her secret has been revealed to Lady Swanson. After being told that the local brothel is on fire, Swanson goes to get her kids only to discover Gregor in the arms of Hellaine and insisting that they are going to get married.
Unable to stop her son, Lady Swanson can only stand idly by while they two escape and go the local minister. As they prepare to leave the city, they are confronted by opposing forces who both want the same thing, to kill Lady Hellaine.
The Story: Mirka Andolfo continues to astound and amaze with the depth of character in this story. The plot is soulful, passionate and full of emotion, pain and loss. You get a sense of the richness of the story and its characters through the dialogue. This issue takes more twists and turns with the characters are there is a sense that a reckoning is coming for all the players involved so Andolfo engages the reader to care about these characters, their circumstances and ultimately, their fates.
The Art: Brilliant, beautiful and brutal, the art in this series continues to be breathtaking. Mirka Andolfo makes every panel eye-catching and lush with detail. Everything from the look of desperation on the face of Lady Swanson to the increasing menace of Goodwill looks amazing and the final page is visually thrilling.
