The Rundown: A new sensation is sweeping the internet and it is turning people into mindless killers.

Aaron Sumner is a college student dealing with a personal crisis when he receives a file with a meme that apparently has been sweeping the world. As his friend and others attest, the meme brings them almost instant joy. Unfortunately, Aaron cannot feel the effects of it because he is color blind. At the same time, a former member of Military intelligence also finds himself unaffected because of his macular degeneration.

As more people see the meme and become engrossed in it, others find the phenomenon troubling, especially the former intelligence agent Marcus Shaw who calls an old colleague as the effects of the meme become deadly to everyone who witnessed it.

The Story: James Tynion IV delivers an intense and entertaining story in this first issue. The premise is incredibly interesting and eerily topical. The characters are intriguing as well and the world being created has some dark tones that kept me engaged throughout. I am fully invested and immersed in this story and the world being created within it and cannot wait to see what comes next.

The Art: Donovan delivers beautiful and stylish art throughout the issue. I love the contrasting views of the world in the first few pages and how everything grows and evolves visually. A beautifully detailed issue from start to finish.
