In a move that came down to the wire for both the cast and fans of the hit Marvel series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D got some good news going into the up fronts for ABC.
According to a report in Deadline, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D has been renewed for a sixth season on the network. Although ratings for the series on its premiere night are steady, the series has an impressive DVR and international sales potential. All factors that most likely led to the final decision to renew the series.
Many of the stars of the series, especially Chloe Bennet who plays Daisy Johnson/Quake, have been teasing fans via social media about the fate of the series and the tension has been palpable for fans of the show. Now that the show has been removed, there is some relief going into the upcoming season finale.
While there is good news for fans of the show, according to a story in The Hollywood Reporter, AoS will not be coming back with another 22 episode season order, but will return with a 13 episode truncated season 6. What this means for the series and any potential for a seventh season is anyone’s guess.
