In an interesting turn of events, ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey announced something almost completely unexpected for fans of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
According to Marvel’s official site, after greenlighting a season 6 set to air this upcoming summer, Dungey has given the Marvel Studios series a season 7 order. The announcement has not confirmed whether or not Clark Gregg’s Agent Phil Coulson would be returning, fueling speculation that the star is leaving the series and character behind with the exception of his appearance on the big screen in next year’s Captain Marvel.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” stars Ming-Na Wen, Chloe Bennet, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley and Jeff Ward.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” was co-created by Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon & Maurissa Tancharoen, who also serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television for ABC.
This is unexpectedly good news for the series, which many thought, would have its swan song at the end of the season 6 summer finale.
