It was recently reported that director Destin Daniel Cretton (Shang-Chi) would not be directing the upcoming Avengers sequel, The Kang Dynasty but would instead be focusing on another project for the studio, Wonder Man.

It’s now being reported in Deadline that The Kang Dynasty has found a new writer who is already familiar with the MCU and the character of Kang specifically. Deadline is reporting that Loki creator and season 1 showrunner Michael Waldron has been tapped to write the upcoming Avengers: The Kang Dynasty for Marvel Studios with a proposed release date of May 2026. Waldron is also penning Avengers: Secret Wars which is scheduled for May 2027.
Waldron is also the writer of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and has recently closed a multi-year deal with Marvel/20th Century Studios with his next slate of products currently under wraps.
