Marvel Studios is gearing up to make Blade a part of the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the vampire hunter is one step closer to making his debut.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Deadline and others, Marvel Studios has found a writer for the upcoming Marvel Studios Blade feature film starring Oscar winner Mahershala Ali.
According to the stories, Marvel has been meeting with writers for the past six months and decided on playwright Stacy Osei-Kuffour to take on the script. Osei-Kuffour is an accomplished playwright who was nominated for an Emmy for her work on the comedy PEN15. She also served as part of the writing team of HBO’s acclaimed Watchmen series based on the Alan Moore/Dave Gibbons comic book.
Created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan, Blade is a Vampire-Human hybrid who all the strengths of a vampire but none of the weaknesses. He uses his skills and strengths to hunt the creatures of the night. The character of Blade is currently a member of the Avengers and will feature heavily in the upcoming Heroes Reborn event in Marvel Comics.
