It looks like the nest big Marvel team-up film will be featuring some unlikely characters.
According to The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, Marvel Studios has tapped a director for an upcoming feature film titled Thunderbolts.
Eric Pearson, who wrote several of Marvel’s One-Shot shorts including The Consultant before writing the Agent Carter series and Thor: Ragnarok will be writing the screenplay for the upcoming film. Director Jake Schreier (Robot & Frank) has been tapped to direct the film.
Marvel Comics is preparing to bring the Thunderbolts back in comic form, but the team itself began as a group of supervillains brought together to replace the Avengers as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with Baron Zemo as their leader. Speculation about the big screen version of the team has it more akin to the Suicide Squad with Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier serving as their leader.
She’s already been making the Nick Fury rounds behind the scenes after recruiting U.S. Agent (John Walker) at the end of TFATWS and returning at the end of Black Widow to recruit Yelena Bolova to kill Clint Barton aka Hawkeye. Daniel Bruhl’s Zemo could also return since his character leads the team in the comics. With the other MCU baddies either captured, killed or in the wind, we will definitely be seeing more of her before Thunderbolts hit theaters.
Let me know what you think. Who do you think will be on the roster for the upcoming Thunderbolts film? Let me know in the comments.
