At the end of The Defenders, Matt Murdock woke up in what looks like a monastery and as he regains consciousness, one of the sisters calls for Maggie. For those who are familiar with the Born Again storyline that season 3 is rumored to be based on then you know that “Maggie” refers to Matt Murdock’s missing mother Maggie Murdock also known as Sister Maggie.
Marvel has cast actress Joanne Whalley as Maggie. Whalley is known for her roles on series like Gossip Girl, The Borgias, Wolf Hall and The White Princess. How she will factor into the season and how much of the Born Again storyline is actually used remains to be seen, but it will be interesting to see how the dynamic between the two characters plays out when Daredevil returns.
