The Rundown: J’onzz and Meade are getting closer to finding the missing girl and their investigation is going to bring them some bizarre results.
Manhunter, Meade and a SWAT team are poised to breach a pig farm being used to traffic humans. As they breach the building, a shootout begins which will drive the partners deep within the compound.
Unwilling to use his powers, J’onn is given no alternative if he and his partner are going to survive the heavily armed resistance they discover and the vicious experiments they find.
The Story: This was a really enjoyable and fun issue from Steve Orlando. The dialogue was great and the story was full of action. Getting deep into the investigation and action was welcome after the last issue and it was interesting seeing J’onn and Meade finally working together.
The pacing of the story was fantastic and there was an immediacy to the action that I enjoyed. I’m still on the fence about Manhunter’s constant doubts and fear about using his powers, but I am really enjoying the direction this story is going in and how big it’s getting in scope.
The Art: Riley Rossmo’s art is fantastic. There is a fluidity to the action and the characters that helps to move the story both thematically and physically.
