The Rundown: Ari investigates the grounds of Manor Black as more ghosts from the past are revealed.
The sheriff sits down with the one member of the family that has left Manor Black and has no interest in returning. As they discuss the fact that magic exists, she warns him that he’s better off not knowing more than he does. In the past, Roman decides to go after the person that murdered his sister. After being talked out of it, he decides to tell his father what happened. Later, he confronts his father again about their guest and his suspicions that he is the one that killer his sister.
Roman finds himself learning about a different type of magic from an unlikely source that has a story to tell him about who and what might have killed his sister. In the present, Ari investigates the grounds and runs into Reginald who has a key to a locked area that Ari is interested in. Back in the past, Roman’s other sister performs a spell to find answers, but what she finds is something that could tear the family apart.
The Story: The story continues to be compelling and entertaining as each twist in the plot is revealed. There are some great moments of tension throughout and the moments between the characters kept me engaged with each page. Bunn does a brilliant job of bringing the reader into this interesting world and taking us on a journey filled with scares and reveals.
The Art: Hurtt perfectly captures the tension and terror of this story with art that is engrossing and atmospheric. The visuals are wonderfully dark and filled with great detail.
