The Rundown: Joan’s new life takes an interesting turn as this latest love affair seems built to last.
Joan finds herself in a new swingin’ era and the square her mother wants her to show around town reminds her of every other life she’s lived. She goes through the motions waiting for the next life to come, but something about this one feels different.
As events continue to unfold, the old conventions that marked her getting ready to move on have failed her and even forcing a confrontation with the cowboy leads to an unexpected result.
The Story: King crafts a story that takes all the frustration and emotion Joan has been dealing with and lays it out brilliantly. What I loved the most about the story is how the harder she tried to force the change, the more things became different. I loved the confrontation with the cowboy and that interaction makes me excited to see where the story goes next.
The Art: Charretier delivers beautifully stylish and wonderfully detailed art on every page of the issue. I love the visual style of this series and its classic look and feel.
