After actor Ed Skrein formally dropped out of taking on the role of Japanese American character Ben Daimio in the Hellboy reboot film, the studio assured the public that they would look to an asian actor to take on the role.
According to reports, it looks like Lost and Hawaii Five-0 star Daniel Dae Kim is in negotiations to play the character on the big screen. Dae Kim is known for his roles on series like Angel and 24, but it was his role of Jin-Soo Kwon on the series Lost that brought the actor national recognition. For the past seven years, Dae Kim has starred on the CBS crime drama Hawaii Five-O in the role of Chin Ho Kelly. The actor reportedly left the series due to disputes with the producers over equal pay.
Daniel Dae Kim will join Davod Harbour, Ian McShane and Milla Jovovich in the production if the reports are correct. No word on whether this iteration of Daimio will sport the facial scars that are part of the characters story.
