Season 1 Episode 7
“Pressurized”
Secrets are being revealed and everyone is fighting desperately to keep the ones they have in this episode as Judy and Don are heading back to the Jupiter 2 and Don shows Judy proof that Smith is not who she says she is. When Judy calls the Jupiter 2 to warn her parents, Smith answers the comm.
Apparently Judy is really bad and holding back her disgust and Smith definitely picks up on the tone, prompting Don to shut off the radio. More secrets are revealed when Maureen discovers that the gun was printed on their ship, forcing Will to reveal that the Robot made it. This causes Maureen to confront Smith, who apologizes for missing the warning signs about Angela and deflects blame for the gun to Victor. Once again, Parker Posey shines as Smith, deftly deflecting blame to others with a plausible tone that makes you forget you’re being manipulated.
John and Maureen go on a mission and end up sinking into a tar pit. While they’re trapped, they finally hash out their marital problems, which are not that compelling. The entire sequence felt cliché. Like those moments in sitcoms where characters are trapped on an elevator and finally start to tell each other the truth because of the enclosed space. On the bright side, it does give John an awesome hero moment and the way they escape is actually incredibly clever.
Don’s group gets stuck in a geyser field that ends in tragedy and Smith decides to start putting her final plan into effect and it requires Will’s logs and the Robot’s body. Meanwhile, Vijay reveals Penny’s secret to his parents and all hell breaks loose.
Other than the end of the episode and the fuel sequence, this episode was a little weak. It showcased Smith well, but the rest of the plot threads were less than compelling.
