James Mangold, director of the game changing comic book movie Logan is set to take on another iconic bad ass.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mangold has been tapped by Lucasfilm to write and direct a movie centered on Bounty Hunter Boba Fett.
Lucasfilm is currently developing a slew of films based on their established characters as well as new films from the showrunners of Game of Thrones and a new trilogy from The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.
The fan favorite character was first introuced in 1980’s Empire Strikes Back as one of several bounty hunters tasked with finding the Millenium Falcon and the rebels on board (The re-release of the films put Fett in the Falcon’s hanger during the first film in the trilogy.). He made his next appearance in Return of the Jedi where he has an unfortunate run in with the all-powerful Sarlaac. An end that fans always felt unsatisfying for a character so feared in the galaxy.
Mangold brought a level of maturity, praise and prestige to the superhero genre with Logan and having him take on a character like Boba Fett might help to usher in a new type of style for the Star Wars Story films going forward.
