The Rundown: Shepherd’s refusal of a mission leads to a potential cataclysm.

After finding out that his daughter is the next one on his list, Shepherd refuses to kill her. An act that he learns can cause something destructive and dangerous to happen to the city. After running, he decides to return home and end the potential threat he poses. He goes to see someone in the neighborhood and discovers she is like him, but he has no interest in stopping her when he receives some unsettling information.

Jo returns home and stops her father from hurting himself and learns the truth about who he is after she manifests powers of her own. When her father begins to change, she runs and finds herself confronted by her mother who has her own plans for her daughter.

The Story: Yarsky crafts an intense, emotional and compelling story in this issue. It is both sweet and tragic in its buildup of the dynamic between father and daughter and there was a part of me that was hoping for a different outcome. The story doesn’t follow many of the conventions I expected and I appreciated the surprises and twists throughout the story.

The Art: Yarsky delivers beautiful art throughout the story. The character designs are fantastic and the story features some beautifully thrilling visual moments in the story.
