According to Deadline, Superman’s greatest enemy Lex Luthor will appear on this season of Supergirl on The CW. According to a joint statement released by Supergirl executive producers Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller;
“We’re beyond excited to introduce iconic villain, Lex Luthor, to Supergirl and to weave him into our story this season,”
There’s been no news regarding casting for the villain, but it should be announced soon with this new season already underway.
Lex has not appeared on the series before, but he has been discussed several times since the shows first season. His sister Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath) currently runs lex’s company LexCorp on the series and Lex’s mother Lillian Luthor (Brenda Strong) has been featured as an enemy to Supergirl on several episodes. No word yet on whether Lillian will return as well.
The producers went on to state, “We’ve talked about having Lex on the show since it’s inception and we’re excited to have him finally arrive. We can’t wait for him to shake things up in National City and watch him go toe-to-toe with not only Supergirl, but his sister, Lena Luthor.”
The introduction of Lex Luthor on Supergirl adds fuel to the rumor that The CW is developing a Superman series for the network.
