Godzilla is bringing his big screen adventures to the small screen with a new series from Legendary and Apple TV+.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production company and the streamer have struck a deal to produce a live action series based on the creatures from the Godzilla big screen universe and the monster tracking organization Monarch. According to a statement released from Apple, the series is “following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real,” and will explore “one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”
Legendary is bringing in some top tier talent as co-creators. Chris Black, who has written and produced for series like Star Trek: Enterprise, Sliders and Xena: Warrior Princess and Matt Fraction who has written multiple issues of The Invincible Iron Man, The Immortal Iron Fist, Uncanny X-Men as well as the celebrated run on Hawkeye that the Disney+ series is partly based on.
The current Monsterverse films include Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong released last year.
