The Rundown: Sung learns a dangerous truth and begins a revolution.
After freeing the woman who cursed the people of the planet, Sung and the others are surprised with an ambush from New Sanctum guards who shoot her. As she is dying in his arms, she reveals something about the curse that will change everything he has believed about the world he lives in and the rules he follows. As more of the curse takes over him, Sung decides to go on the attack to drive the guards away.
After returning to the others, his mother does her best to try to keep the “witch” alive as more exiles arrive and fight over the medallions that change them back to normal. As Sung fights the creature that fought his father, he realizes that now is the time to strike back and reveal the truth.
The Story: Pak kicks this story off into another gear and ramps up both the thrills and the stakes for its characters in the process. I love the evolution of this world, the characters and how this issue calls back to the moment that changed Sung’s life. I also really loved the reveals in the issue and what they mean for Sung’s journey as he finally decides to take a stand. A powerful, engaging and entertaining issue.
The Art: Galindo delivers fantastic art throughout the issue. I love the visuals of this story and the visual evolution of the characters.
