The Rundown: Sung returns to the town to save his mother, but makes a dangerous choice to do more.

After using Sung to capture the leader of the Exiles and destroying their camp, Sung and his mother are allowed to return New Sanctum along with Eris. At the same time, the mayor and the guard display the leader of the Exiles as a warning while Sung’s curse is magically removed publicly. An act that Sung uses as a means of getting back into society.

As Sung continues to see the corruption all around them, his mother begins to rebel in her own small way. As she sees everything he’s compromised to be part of a corrupt system, she reminds him of who his father is. Emboldened by the truth, Sung helps the leader of the Exiles escape and they travel to see the witch who brought the curse in the first place, but they are not alone.

The Story: Pak continues to create great drama and tension throughout this series and this issue is no exception. I loved seeing the emotional journey both Sung and his mother go on as this issue progresses and hoping to see Sung do the right thing. I like how all of the characters are complicated and interesting and the world being created in this series continues to engage me both morally and philosophically.

The Art: Galindo provides amazing art throughout this issue. The story is very emotional and Galindo is able to bring those emotions across with the characters while also allowing for great action and thrills.
