After securing Gal Gadot to return and Patty Jenkins to direct, casting is underway for the sequel to the global smash hit Wonder Woman.
According to Deadline, Warner Brothers and DC Films are in talks with actress Kristen Wiig to take the role of the villain Cheetah in Wonder Woman 2. The film will be set during the 1980’s Cold War.
Kristen Wiig is known for her work on Saturday Night Live and movies like Bridesmaids, Ghostbusters, The Martian and Downsizing. She is reportedly director Patty Jenkins’ first choice for the role of Cheetah.
For those unfamiliar, Cheetah is Dr. Barbara Ann Minerva. An archaeologist who studies ancient weapons, she is infused with superhuman strength and speed by an ancient herb that also changes her into a human/cheetah hybrid.
