The Rundown: Koshchei teams with a demon to destroy a nest of witches trying to summon a powerful demon.
After his fight on the beach, Koshchei finds himself in possession of a demon trapped in a bottle by the witches Koshchei recently killed. After freeing the little demon, he learns that there are more in the area and they are trying to resurrect a powerful demon.
After learning more about the demon, getting new weapons and tracking down the witches, Koshchei does what he does best, but his battle will leave him vulnerable to something he suspected, but didn’t plan for.
The Story: Mignola crafts an exciting, brutal and entertaining story in this issue. Not only is there great action and world building, but also great humor as well. I love the banter between Koshchei and the demon and the dark tone beneath their interactions. I really enjoyed the twist at the end of the story and look forward to seeing where it goes next.
The Art: Stenbeck delivers some beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The art is brilliant and brutal with some evocative imagery on every page.
