The Rundown: The Knights and Samurai comes to an understanding as a new threat emerges.

While the combined forces of Ward and the Samurai leader confront the mysterious creatures in the woods, one of Ward’s men decides to both kill one of the injured and frame one of his countrymen for the crime. At the same time, the cleric discovers a magical way to communicate with the samurai and inadvertently discover that they can communicate with the dragon as well.

After discovering that the dragon was provoked into attacking to cover a dangerous theft, both forces return to the fort before Lord Tomoya arrives. As he plans on killing Musashi for his failure to kill the dragon, Ward and the others intercede and the combined forces defend themselves knowing that even in victory, they are still in danger.

The Story: Dastmalchian crafts a fun, thrilling and exciting adventure in this issue. There are some fantastic twists throughout the story and I continue to enjoy how the story and the drama escalates between these groups and their potential external threats. This issue has great character moments throughout it and I love the rising tension between all of the characters as well as the confrontation with the dragon. I’m excited to see what happens next in this story.

The Art: Mele provides beautiful, thrilling and brilliantly detailed art throughout the issue. I love the character designs, the action and how everything captures the mood and tone of the moment.
