The Rundown: A knight is sent on a mission to conquer an unknown island.

After suffering a personal loss at the hands of the dragon he recently slain, Charles returns to his land to become a knight and see the woman he loves. In the midst of his ceremony, a survivor from a recent expedition returns to the Duke and his story prompts the lord to send Sir Charles on another expedition to conquer the strange land.

Charles begins a new voyage through treacherous waters filled with dangerous creatures and potentially dangerous allies as well. As they find the island, they are unprepared for the forces they will encounter.

The Story: Dastmalchian delivers a solid, entertaining and engaging first issue of an interesting story. The premise is beautifully solid in its characters and every moment takes the reader on a journey that builds on the challenges facing the characters both internally and externally. There is a wonderful buildup to the first encounter teased throughout the story and the action serves as wonderful moments of tension as the party gets closer to their destination. I really enjoyed the tension between the characters as well and look forward to seeing what happens next.

The Art: Mele delivers beautifully detailed art throughout the issue. The character designs are beautiful and the intricate details in the pages and panels are amazing. I love the visual style of this issue and look forward to more.
