The Rundown: The final battle against the King in Black begins.
The Silver Surfer stands defiant against Knull as the forces of the King in Black continue to spread across the planet. As Surfer prepares for battle, he finds that he is not alone when more heroes arrive including Captain America, Thor and more. With the heroes standing in opposition to Knull, the master of the symbiotes finds a new foe standing before. One infused with cosmic powers that rival everything standing against Knull, Eddie Brock.
As Eddie makes his final stand against Knull, the power given to him will allow him to do things he never thought possible and deliver the same level of destruction on Knull that he wished to bring to the Earth. As their battle rages across the city, the conclusion will see a new King in Black crowned, but the pull of the darkness is still inside Eddie’s son Dylan.
The Story: Cates brings this storyline to an epic and satisfactory conclusion. There were thrills throughout and the plot was filled with energy and emotion. Cates brings the epic scope of the story back into full focus by concentrating the final battle on Eddie Brock versus Knull and their interactions are beautifully done. I loved the flow of the story and its conclusion.
The Art: Stegman takes the epic scope of the story and brings it to life brilliantly with the art in this issue. There are beautifully done action and fight moments that are contrasted by amazing character moments. A great looking issue from start to finish.
