A final, brutal betrayal will set Erik on his dark path.
Erik and Knight finally have a chance to walk away clean from Kingpin, New York and everything that has been holding them back. Erik plans to take her to Wakanda with him and she agrees, but only after completing one job for Black Widow and SHIELD.
Their mission is to convince King to come in and give the organization everything he knows about Kingpin. When they confront the man at his home, they meet his wife and are invited in. King refuses to come in and his refusal triggers Knight to make a decision that will change everything.
Instead of turning the man in, she calls in a group of mercenaries and betrays everyone, including Erik. Causing death and destruction to everyone around her, Erik is given an opportunity from his dying mentor and a new Wakandan god that will solidify his plans to become Killmonger.
Hill goes straight for the jugular with this issue. There’s no moment wasted as Hill brings the story and Erik’s last connection to the world outside his revenge to a brutal and beautifully crafted conclusion. There is so much to enjoy in the plotting and dialogue of this issue and the final pages challenge the reader to find out what happens next.
Juan Ferreyra’s art is amazing. There are some awesome panels in this issue and the fight sequence towards the end of the issue is one of the best I’ve seen in a while. A great issue.
